en.malanginspirasi.com – The Damai Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force (Satgas Damai Cartenz), in collaboration with the Jayawijaya Police, is currently conducting an investigation and sweeping operations following a shooting incident targeting three employees of the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service in Muliama District, Jayawijaya Regency, Highland Papua, on Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:53 PM WIT in Muliama Village, Muliama District.
A group of 11 employees from the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service was traveling from Wamena to Muliama District to inspect the execution of a rice field creation project.
The shooting resulted in three fatalities among the Jayawijaya Agriculture Service staff.
Security personnel are actively investigating the sequence of events and the motive behind the attack to establish the full context of the incident.

- WB (24, Female) – Employee at the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service. She sustained a gunshot wound to her right waist. She and was pronounced dead at Wamena Regional Public Hospital (RSUD Wamena) after receiving medical care.
- AR (49, Female) – Head of the Livestock Division at the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service. She suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- AAM (35, Male) – Employee at the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service. He sustained gunshot wounds to the back of the head and left hand and was pronounced dead at the scene.
All three victims were evacuated to RSUD Wamena for medical processing.
Security Response and Investigation
Upon receiving reports of the attack, a joint team from the Damai Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force and the Jayawijaya Police immediately dispatched to the location to secure the area and initiate an investigation.
In addition to securing the crime scene, personnel conducted sweeping operations around the Muliama Community Health Center (Puskesmas) and areas suspected to be the location from which the shots were fired.

Security forces have also secured eight witnesses who were traveling with the victims during the attack to gather statements, clarify the timeline, and identify potential perpetrators.
Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting was carried out by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) originating from the Nduga region.
Security forces are continuing to collect information and evidence to confirm the exact identities and involvement of those responsible.

The Head of the Damai Cartenz-2026 Operations, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, stated that security measures were taken immediately, strongly condemning the act of violence against civilians:
“The Damai Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force and the Jayawijaya Police immediately took response measures upon receiving information regarding the incident. We are ensuring a thorough investigation to unravel the chronology, identify the perpetrators, and hold them accountable in accordance with the law,” said the Head of Operations.
He emphasized that violence against civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances and assured that security forces would work tirelessly to track down and apprehend the suspects.
Additionally, Deputy Head of Damai Cartenz-2026 Operations, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, urged residents of Jayawijaya Regency to remain calm and avoid being provoked by unverified information:
“We urge the public to remain calm and trust the law enforcement process. The Damai Cartenz Task Force and Jayawijaya Police will thoroughly investigate this shooting and exert maximum effort to capture the perpetrators,” he stated.
He further cautioned the community against spreading unverified rumors that could cause panic or unrest.
