en.Malanginspirasi.com – The audience between representatives of the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) and the Aliansi Rakyat Indonesia Peduli (ARIP) with leaders of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) marked a turning point in the demonstrations at the Senayan parliamentary complex on Thursday (27 August 2026). The meeting, held amid waves of protesters demanding the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset), produced a written commitment letter containing clear deadlines and political consequences for parliamentary leaders.
Vice Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, accompanied by Sari Yuliati, Saan Mustopa, and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, directly received AMPB coordinator Supriyono (alias Botok) and ARIP representatives.
During the meeting, both sides signed a commitment document dated 27 August 2026.
The four main points in the letter include: placing the Asset Confiscation Bill as one of the important legislative agendas to strengthen the anti-corruption system and the recovery of crime-derived assets; a commitment to complete the formation of the bill no later than 15 December 2026; and the readiness of DPR leaders to resign from their leadership positions as well as their membership in the DPR if the bill has not been ratified in a Plenary Session by that deadline.
“The DPR leadership is committed to completing this law on time. We have no problem, no concerns about then fulfilling the demands of our friends. If it is indeed not finished, then we will resign. That is no problem,” Dasco firmly stated in front of the mass representatives.
Political Consequences
Botok stressed the importance of firm consequences. He demanded that all DPR leaders take full responsibility if the agreement is not realized.
After the document was signed, Botok read out the contents of the commitment before the crowds still holding out in front of the main gate of the DPR Building at around 12:00 WIB.
The outcome of the audience became the reason for the AMPB masses to disperse in an orderly manner. The group then boarded prepared buses to return to Pati, Central Java.
Meanwhile, other groups of protesters continued to arrive in the Senayan area to voice similar aspirations or other demands.
The audience took place after a DPR Plenary Session, one of whose agenda items included a progress report on the drafting of the Asset Confiscation Bill by Commission III. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman had previously stated a ratification target of no later than December 2026, in line with the commitment later locked in during the meeting with AMPB and ARIP representatives.
The government has also expressed its readiness to support the accelerated deliberation of the bill. With the existence of a commitment document binding the DPR leadership, the legislative process for the Asset Confiscation Bill now has a more concrete time limit that can be monitored by the public until the end of the year.
