Governor Khofifah Gives Free Trans Jatim Bus Rides for Two Days During Eid al-Fitri 1447 H

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Ahead of Eid al-Fitri 1447 Hijriah, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has announced a special gift for residents: free Trans Jatim bus services for two full days on March 21 and 22, 2026 (Hari H and H+1 Lebaran).

The free service applies to all regular Trans Jatim corridors serving key areas, including Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, and Greater Malang. Luxury-category buses will continue to charge normal fares.

“We want to bring the joy of Lebaran directly to the people through safe, comfortable, and free public transportation,” Khofifah said in Surabaya on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

On the first day of Eid (March 21), Trans Jatim operations will be adjusted to start at 10:00 WIB until 21:00 WIB to accommodate Eid prayers in the morning. On H+1 (March 22), services will return to normal hours: 05:00 WIB to 21:00 WIB.

Khofifah explained that the schedule adjustment is designed to support mobility needs without disrupting the main worship activities.

Promoting Public Transport Use

Beyond the fare exemption, the program aims to encourage residents to switch from private vehicles to public transport during the Lebaran period. This is expected to reduce traffic congestion and lower the risk of road accidents, which typically spike during mudik and family visits.

“With these free services, we hope people will shift to public transportation so journeys become safer, more orderly, and more comfortable,” Khofifah emphasized.

The initiative also forms part of the provincial government’s broader effort to build an inclusive, affordable, and sustainable transportation system in East Java.

Khofifah invited residents to make the most of the moment with family and relatives.

“Silaturahmi becomes closer, travel becomes cheaper. A comfortable mudik doesn’t have to be expensive,” she concluded.

With this policy, this year’s Eid is hoped to be not only about reaching destinations, but also about lighter, safer, and more meaningful journeys for all East Java residents.
