Rais Aam PBNU, Gus Ipul, and Governor Khofifah Inaugurate Gus Dur Building at Ponorogo Muslimat Hospital

EN.malanginspirasi.com – Rais Aam of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) KH Miftachul Ahyar, Minister of Social Affairs and Secretary General of PBNU Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa attended the inauguration of the KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) Building at Ponorogo Muslimat General Hospital (RSU Muslimat Ponorogo) on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

The inauguration ceremony also marked the 40th anniversary (Harlah) of RSU Muslimat Ponorogo. Also present were former Minister of Education and Culture Prof. Muhammad Nuh, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, and Acting Regent of Ponorogo Lisdyarita.

Gus Ipul arrived at the venue around 10:35 WIB and was welcomed with a hadrah performance. He then symbolically handed out donations to orphans before joining the others for the official inauguration.

Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Ahyar, Gus Ipul, Governor Khofifah, and other stakeholders then pressed the ceremonial button to mark the opening of the Gus Dur Building.

Following the inauguration, Gus Ipul and the delegation toured the inpatient rooms on the 5th floor, inspecting Class 1, VIP, and VVIP wards.

“These rooms look excellent and comfortable for patients,” Gus Ipul remarked.

Strengthens Maternal and Child Health Services in Ponorogo

Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, who also serves as Chairperson of the Central Board of Muslimat NU, stated that the construction of the Gus Dur Building is the result of strong collaboration among various parties.

“These efforts show that when we build synergy and collaboration, Insya Allah, it can be achieved,” she said.

Khofifah added that the new Gus Dur Building will significantly strengthen healthcare services in Ponorogo Regency, particularly as a center for maternal and child health.

She recalled that Ponorogo was once known as an infertility treatment hub, providing care for couples facing difficulties conceiving due to both male and female factors.

“Ponorogo was previously famous for its infertility service. It became an epicenter for infertility treatment,” she noted.

The naming of the building carries deep historical significance. In 1986, when RSU Muslimat was still operating as a Maternal and Child Health Center (BKIA), KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), then Chairman of PBNU, personally inaugurated the original facility.
