en.malanginspirasi.com – Students of public schools (Sekolah Rakyat) from various regencies and cities in East Java attended “Digital Smart” (Cerdig) program through online Coding for Kids Training by Communications and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) of East Java Provincial (Jatim) held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
The resource person was a volunteer Erlina Dwi Nahzdifah, as the training featured Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
This activity is part of the East Java Diskominfo’s efforts to improve digital literacy and introduce the basics of coding to children from an early age.
In the opening session, Erlina emphasized the importance of maintaining the security of personal data when using digital platforms.
She asked participants not to use their real identities when creating accounts.
“When creating an account, it’s best not to use your real name. Use a nickname or unique name to keep your personal data secure in the digital world,” she explained.

She also reminded participants to create a memorable password and write it down to avoid forgetting it when logging in again.
In the training, students learned Scratch, a block-based visual programming language designed to help children and beginners learn coding in an easy and fun way.
Through Scratch, participants learn to create animations, interactive stories, and even simple games without having to write complex programming code.
This material aims to foster creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills from an early age.
Participants also learned how to create a character walking towards a castle using backdrop features like Blue Sky and Castle.
The instructor explains how to change the backdrop using the switch backdrop block and run the program using the Green Flag button so that the animation runs automatically according to the storyline.
Furthermore, students also learned the use of block control repeat until to control the movement of a character until it reaches a certain position.
Through this material, students understand the concept of X and Y coordinates in Scratch to control the direction of movement of objects on the screen.
The instructor then guides participants in determining the character’s position and using conditional operators to stop the animation and change the background when it reaches a certain point.
Diskominfo Jatim hopes that Sekolah Rakyat students will develop an interest in learning coding from an early age through the Cerdig program.
At the same time, they can also improve their logical and creative thinking skills through interactive and fun digital learning methods.
