He distributed basic food packages and hold discussions with waste activists in Malang Regency.
In his remarks, Sanusi expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Malang Regency Government (Pemerintah Kabupaten Malang) to the scavengers and garbage drivers at the landfill who have assisted the Malang Regency Government in waste management.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia has declared waste management a national priority through the Curve program, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in their areas.
“In Malang Regency, the Curve program has been implemented down to the sub-district level, and waste management has been carried out in collaboration with EPW for proper waste management and is supported by the Danish Government for proper handling,” explained Sanusi.

On this occasion, the Regent also instructed the Head of the Malang Regency Environmental Agency to register landfill scavengers and garbage truck drivers so that their Social Security (BPJS ) data can be entered into the Indonesian Social Security Agency (BPID).
“If anyone does not yet have BPJS Health or BPJS Employment, please register them immediately through the Malang Regency Environmental Agency, so that their BPJS can be entered into the BPID data of the Malang Regency Social Service,” said the Regent.
Finally, Sanusi also advised all village and sub-district heads to promote waste sorting at the household level.
If the community has implemented waste sorting at the household level, regardless of the technology, the basic foundation is that waste must be segregated.
“With waste segregation at the upstream level, processing will be easier and will also impact budget efficiency,” the Malang Regent concluded.
Also present were the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency, Dr. Ir. Budiar Anwar, M.Si., the Heads of Malang Regency Regional Apparatuses, the Kepanjen Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimcam), and all waste activists in the TPA Paras Poncokusumo, TPA Randugading Singosari, and TPA Talangagung Kepanjen.
