South Papua Selects 18 Prospective Students for the Polbangtan Malang Scholarship Program

en.malanginspirasi.com – The Head of the South Papua Provincial Education and Culture Office, Ignasius Babaga, emphasized the South Papua Provincial Government’s commitment to covering all tuition costs, including pocket money, for students who pass the selection for the superior scholarship program at the Malang Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan).

Ignasius made this statement during the selection process for new students for the superior scholarship program, which took place at YPK Merauke Middle School on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

He statedĀ  that prospective students should useĀ this golden opportunity as they have to implement high discipline.

It is due to the consideration that the civil service education system differs significantly from that of general universities.

“This is your chance to attend college. College takes a long time, and each individual must determine their own personality. High school/vocational school is different from college,” said Ignasius.

Echoing this sentiment, Hamyana, Deputy Director 3 of Polbangtan Malang, emphasized that the selection process includes a written test and an in-depth interview.

The interview focuses on assessing the participants’ motivation and mental readiness to face the semi-military boarding school system.

“The Polbangtan Malang campus is based in a dormitory, and there are disciplinary trainers from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) who will accompany all students 24/7. So, we must start considering the living conditions on the Polbangtan Malang campus now,” said Hamyana.

He explained that student activities outside the Polbangtan campus are strictly measured and limited.

Therefore, the selection process isn’t just about finding students with the highest academic scores, but also about candidates with a strong vision and commitment to advancing the agricultural sector after graduation.
