Welcoming New Students, FTAB UB Launches ‘1,000++ Mindmap Solutions for SDGs’ and Integrity Certification

en.malanginspirasi.com –  The Faculty of Agro-industrial Technology and Biosystems (FTAB), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), welcomed 1,175 new students during the faculty-level Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) on Thursday, August 13th at GOR Pertamina, Brawijaya University.

The orientation series spans four days, featuring one day at the faculty level followed by three days across its three departments.

During the faculty-level orientation, new students were introduced to academic guidelines, campus ethics, and learning processes within FTAB UB.

Continuing its tradition of signature annual programs—such as last year’s 2,000 international AI certifications, the faculty introduced a new flagship initiative for this year Mapping Solutions for 1,000++ SDGs Problems in Indonesia.

In an interview, the Dean of FTAB UB, Prof. Yusuf Hendrawan, STP., M.App.Life.Sc., Ph.D., explained that as part of an ongoing program, each new student will craft a scientific proposal presenting real-world solutions to national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) challenges.

“This year’s signature initiative requires students to formulate scientific solutions addressing 1,000++ SDGs challenges in Indonesia in the form of mindmaps. We will collect these 1,000++ mindmaps and compile them into a published book, which will serve as official policy recommendations for decision-makers in resolving SDGs issues,” said Prof. Yusuf Hendrawan before the opening of PKKMB (Campus Life Introduction for New Students).

In addition to the SDGs solution mapping, the ongoing program will feature two additional certifications for students named  Green Campus Certification and an Integrity Certification.

Highlighting the faculty’s track record,  Prof. Yusuf emphasized FTAB UB’s unique standing as the only faculty in Indonesia to achieve the prestigious Wilayah Birokrasi Bersih dan Melayani (WBBM) status.

“Because FTAB remains the sole faculty in Indonesia to earn and maintain the WBBM predicate, we serve as a national benchmark for developing an Integrity Zone in an academic environment. As the core driver of this standard, it is essential that we certify our students in integrity, ensuring all FTAB graduates embody strong ethical principles,” he added.

The faculty chose to focus entirely on internal orientation sessions for the opening day due to the extensive material covered.

They include briefings from the Vice Deans, student advisory bodies, campus health and safety, and anti-corruption units—before continuing into the departmental-level orientation sessions.
