en.malanginspirasi.com – Malang Regent (Bupati Malang), Drs. H. M. Sanusi, M.M., harvested tunnel salt in Sumberoto Village, located in the Modangan Beach area, on Monday afternoon (May 18th).
He expressed his appreciation for the productivity progress and innovation of the seawater crystallization process using UV-protected plastic frames, producing 8 tons per month by the Sumberoto Makmur Sejahtera group.
The Malang Regency Government (Pemkab Malang) has provided a grant for 32 greenhouse tunnels and 10 greenhouse tunnels from the state budget.
“Here, tunnel salt production has grown, from 1 to 2 tons. Currently, it has reached 8 tons per month at a price of Rp 3,000 per kilogram, up from the initial Rp 1,500 per kilogram,” he mentioned.

Sanusi continued that it results in a monthly production turnover of Rp 24 million, with production costs of around Rp 4 million that generates monthly income of Rp 20 million.
“Next year, the Malang Regency Government will help double production,” Sanusi emphasized .
Pemkab Malang will continue to provide full support to tunnel salt farmers who have successfully implemented the Greenhouse Salt Tunnel (GST) and Continuously Dynamic Mixing (CDM) methods.
They hope to expand the tunnel salt industry and have requested the Malang Regent to increase the number of tunnels.
The market for tunnel salt is currently waiting, and they will accommodate any production volume, priced between Rp 2,500 and Rp 3,000 per kilogram.
The tunnel salt in Sumberoto produces very white salt with a NaCl content of >95%.
