This cross-sector synergy is part of a preventive and preemptive measure to maintain public order and security during the demonstration.
Previously, approximately 500 students from various universities and members of BEM gathered in the Kayutangan area and then marched to the Malang City DPRD Building.
They were carrying posters and banners titled “Menjerit Indonesiaku” (My Indonesia Screaming).
In their speeches, the student representatives highlighted the national economic conditions in recent months.
They assessed that the rising prices of staple foods and fuel, as well as the fluctuation of the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar, were factors fueling uncertainty among the public.
In response to the protest, the Chairperson of DPRD, Amithya Ratnanggani Sirraduhita, along with several leaders and council members, personally met with the protesters for a dialogue.
Shortly after their demands were expressed, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
AKP Rizky explained that security measures were implemented using a humanistic approach and prioritized persuasive communication to maintain harmony between officers and protesters.
“Our main goal is to ensure the event runs smoothly, aspirations are conveyed, and public order and security are maintained. Thank God, the entire demonstration proceeded safely and orderly, without any significant disruptions,” he added.
The humanistic side was evident after the protest ended.
Students and police worked together to clean up the area around the demonstration site.
They collected food and drink waste in plastic bags, while arranging banners and posters neatly to prevent littering.
This moment reflected the collaboration and solidarity between students and officers in maintaining a clean environment and demonstrating maturity in democracy.
In closing, AKP Rizki, after helping collect trash, also expressed his appreciation to all the protesters.
“Thank you, we would like to thank the Malang Raya Student Executive Board (BEM) for conveying their aspirations in an orderly manner, maintaining security and stability, and creating harmony after the protest,” he concluded.
The peaceful protest concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with students and police officers shaking hands as a symbol of synergy and togetherness in maintaining the stability of Malang City.
