Polresta Malang Kota Uncover 32 Cases, Foil Circulation of Narcotics and Illegal Alcohol

From April 1 to May 6, 2026, the Narcotics Unit (Satresnarkoba) uncovered 32 narcotics cases and one major case of illegal alcohol distribution, with a total of 39 suspects arrested.

In a press conference held at the Polresta Malang Kota Headquarters, Malang City Police Chief (Polresta), Kombes Pol Putu Kholis Aryana, revealed a staggering amount of evidence seized.

They include 8,982.64 grams of marijuana, 1,673.99 grams of methamphetamine, 75,000 LL pills, three ecstasy pills, and 1,500 bottles of Balinese arak (illegal alcoholic beverage).

Of the 32 cases handled, 15, with 20 suspects, were resolved through a restorative justice approach.

He continued that those, who were proven to be pure users, were sent to rehabilitation to help them recover and prevent reoffending.

“Meanwhile, the rest are being prosecuted because they are part of a drug distribution and courier network with large amounts of evidence.” he explained.

The most prominent case involved the discovery of a 1,478-kilogram methamphetamine network in the Junrejo area of ​​Batu City.

The suspect, AN, a 37-year-old man, is suspected of being a courier for the inter-regional narcotics network.

From AN, officers confiscated one large package of methamphetamine weighing 1,018 grams and 10 packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution, totaling 460.28 grams.

This discovery was a follow-up to the arrest of another suspect in the Blimbing area of ​​Malang City.

Police suspect the methamphetamine originated from a large network controlled by a suspect identified as BT, who is currently on the wanted list.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to having received supplies of methamphetamine four times, each weighing approximately one kilogram, to be distributed through a trap system.

Kombes Pol Putu explained that the perpetrator used a “stick-on-the-wall” system, where each transaction involved no face-to-face interaction.

The suspects placed the drugs  at specific locations after both parties reached an agreement.

“It started with a resident finding suspicious packages in a housing complex. We expanded the investigation to locations in Klojen, Blimbing, and Kedungkandang,” he explained.

Furthermore, Satresnarkoba also uncovered a large-scale distribution of marijuana and LL pills in the Kedungkandang area.

The Police arrested DR (40)  with 7.2 kilograms of marijuana, 53,000 LL pills, and several packages of methamphetamine.

DR, as the suspect, acted as a courier and keeper of the illicit goods, controlled by a network above him.

Uncovering Distribution of Illegal Liquor

Besides, officers also uncovered the distribution of 1,500 bottles of illegal, unbranded liquor from a truck in the Sawojajar area of ​​Malang City.

The police arrested the suspect who is identified as PS (33) after obtaining a public report regarding suspicious roadside activity.

Thousands of bottles of Balinese arak were suspected of being illegally distributed in the Greater Malang area.

The Head of the Narcotics Unit (Kasat Resnarkoba), Daky Dzul Qornain, emphasized that this disclosure demonstrates the police’s commitment to disrupting the chain of drug trafficking that threatens the community.

The suspects were charged under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, and the latest Criminal Code, carrying penalties ranging from 12 years in prison to life imprisonment, and even the death penalty for large-scale drug trafficking.
